We are currently seeking an Accounting Associate to join our accounting team and support the financial operations of our busy, mission-driven congregation.
Position SummaryThe Accounting Associate will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions related to vendor payments and member billing. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in using platforms such as Quick Books Online and . This individual will play a vital role in the day-to-day financial health of the synagogue and should be comfortable working in a high-volume, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities- Process vendor invoices and expense submissions using
- Manage accounts payable, including weekly check runs and ACH payments
- Track and reconcile accounts receivable, including member billing and donations in Shul Cloud.
- Enter and categorize transactions accurately in Quick Books
- Reconcile credit card statements monthly
- Maintain precise and up-to-date vendor and congregant account records
- Support the preparation of monthly vendor and membership reports for leadership
- Assist with the annual audit and budgeting process
- Communicate with congregants regarding billing questions or payment issues with professionalism and discretion
- Ensure financial compliance with internal policies and nonprofit best practices
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in AP/AR or general accounting
- Proficiency in Quick Books, , and Shul Cloud highly preferred
- Excel and data management skills preferred
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
- Professional demeanor with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Familiarity with Jewish holidays and synagogue operations is a plus
- This position requires high attention to detail.
