Role Overview The Project Accountant coordinates all phases of the construction job costing process, including categorizing, recording, analyzing and monitoring the costs and billings associated with a large construction project as well as several smaller, less complex projects. The role also assures vendor compliance in order to manage project risk.
Assigned to a large construction project, the Project Accountant works closely with the Project Manager to assure timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle, producing monthly billings, reconciling costs against budget, and resolving project accounting issues as they arise.
Core Responsibilities
Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.Processes project accounts payable and subcontracts payable.Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s.Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through job cost tracking reports.Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project statuses and budget information in COINS.Identifies and resolves basic and more complex project related accounting issues in a timely manner.Required Background
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience, preferred3-5 years of project accounting experience preferredStrong accounting knowledgeStrong organization skills with high level of attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong customer service skillsStrong analytical skillsStrong ability to prioritize and multi-taskProven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressureAbility to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretionComputer proficiency and technical aptitude with intermediate to expert level ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. requiredCompensation & Perks
