We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a growing organization supporting multiple business operations. This position will be responsible for maintaining financial records, supporting monthly and annual close activities, and ensuring accounting transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with accounting standards.

The ideal candidate will have experience with general ledger accounting, inventory accounting, fixed assets, and financial reporting, as well as the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules, capital leases, and equipment assets.
  • Record and reconcile monthly accruals for expenses such as taxes, insurance, and other operating costs.
  • Ensure accounting transactions are properly recorded and supported within the general ledger.
  • Participate in monthly and annual closing activities to facilitate timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare supporting documentation, schedules, and account analyses.
  • Manage workload effectively to meet established deadlines and reporting requirements.
Inventory & Cost Accounting
  • Support inventory accounting activities, including cost analysis, cycle count reviews, inventory reconciliations, and work-in-progress tracking.
  • Analyze inventory discrepancies and assist with corrective actions when necessary.
  • Monitor inventory performance metrics, including turnover and aging.
  • Maintain lease schedules and ensure accurate accounting treatment for operating leases.
  • Assist with the ongoing accuracy of inventory and cost accounting records.
Account Reconciliations & Audit Preparation
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and assist with cash reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve account variances and discrepancies.
  • Assist with external audit requests by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Help ensure compliance with applicable accounting principles and internal policies.
  • Support sales and use tax reporting systems and related processes.
  • Assist with maintaining accounting system integrity and data accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with in industrial, energy, manufacturing, distribution, or similar industries is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with various levels of leadership.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Standard office setting with extended periods of computer-based work.
  • Additional hours may be required during month-end, year-end, audit, or other critical reporting periods.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds when required.
