The Accountant I will be responsible to ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:- Prepare journal entries to record cash transactions, such as local currency bank transfers, bank fees, earned account interest, account deposits, etc.
- Record payroll related transactions
- Prepare payroll journal entries using information received by Human Resources
- Prepare entries to properly allocate corporate payroll costs to various entities and cost centers based on information provided by Human Resources
- Prepare journal entries to record and adjust Personal Time Off (“PTO”) and short-term incentive-plan (“STIP”) compensation related accruals based on information provided by Human Resources
- Prepare journal entries to record monthly cash entries associated with payroll and stock-based compensation related transactions
- Prepare journal entries to record monthly stock-based compensation related transactions, such as monthly amortization expenses and forfeitures
- Calculate and prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries relating to corporate accruals, prepaid expense amortization, debt issuance costs, income taxes, and dividend transactions
- Perform monthly intercompany account reconciliations and prepare any required journal entries
- Analyze and prepare journal entries to record monthly employee expense report related transactions.
- Run monthly foreign exchange processes in accounting system
- Perform monthly general ledger account reconciliations and assist with providing explanations for month-to-month balance sheet and income statement account variances.
- Assist with gathering and providing information for audits – financial statement audits, internal audits, tax authority audits, joint interest partner audits, governmental audits, and others.
- Assist in special projects as assigned by management, including system upgrades, enhancements, and implementations (as needed)
- Additional tasks as assigned by business/management.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 1-3 years’ experience/oil and gas industry experience a plus
- Strong US GAAP knowledge
- Strong organizational skills and detail orientation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in working as part of a team; self-motivated.
- Strong working knowledge of personal computers with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, or comparable software.
- Time management; and Data entry management
Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, to permit the employee to function in a general office environment and accomplish tasks and duties as outlined above.
