Sterling Multi-Chem is seeking a hands-on, business-oriented Controller to support the Head of Finance in leading the company's accounting, financial reporting, cost accounting, and financial planning activities. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information while providing timely, actionable insights that support operational and commercial decision-making.
As a key member of the finance team, the Controller will partner closely with the Head of Finance, plant operations, and business leaders to drive financial discipline, improve visibility into business performance, and support the company's growth objectives. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented finance professional with strong manufacturing accounting and cost accounting experience who can translate financial data into meaningful business insights and help drive operational and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, reconciliations, and close processes.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close with accuracy and timeliness.
- Analyze financial results and clearly explain variances, trends, and key drivers to leadership.
- Work within SAP to manage financial data, reporting, and controls.
- Partner with operations to understand plant-level performance and cost drivers.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and external audit requirements.
- Support integration activities and process standardization as the business grows.
- Provide straightforward explanations of financials to non-finance stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting, cost accounting, or plant controllership experience.
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Strong hands-on working knowledge of SAP.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly and simply.
- CPA preferred but not required.
- Chemical manufacturing, specialty chemicals, industrial manufacturing, or oilfield services experience.
- Multi-site manufacturing experience.
