This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys detailed work, responsive service, and continuous improvement.

What

  • Review payroll inputs and outputs for accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and complete corrections promptly.
  • Prepare payments and adjustments for travel expenses, paid time off, shortages, and other payroll items.
  • Respond to employee and stakeholder questions with accuracy, professionalism, and timely follow-through.
  • Maintain payroll records, reports, data imports and exports, deduction overrides, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Prepare and submit certified payroll reports and support documentation according to contract requirements.
  • Support federal and state payroll tax activities, including Forms 940 and 941, unemployment reporting, and federal tax deposits.
  • Apply current wage-and-hour, payroll tax, and payroll record-retention requirements.
  • Partner with Payroll, Human Resources, Accounting, operations, and branch teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Contribute to special projects, reporting enhancements, system improvements, and cross-training initiatives.
What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll requirements, including FLSA and payroll tax rules.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with payroll reports, reconciliations, imports, and exports.
  • Demonstrated accuracy, analytical judgment, discretion, and ability to protect confidential information.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a weekly payroll environment and communicate effectively across the organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Construction payroll experience, particularly in commercial, residential, or multifamily environments.
  • Experience with certified payroll, prevailing-wage requirements, worker classifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Experience with JD Edwards Enterprise One or another enterprise payroll system.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
What Makes this Opportunity Stand Out
  • Meaningful ownership of a critical weekly payroll process.

Working Conditions
  • Able to perform work indoors in an office environment.
  • Able to work in an office environment with moderate pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work overtime to meet established deadlines.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to communicate orally in a clear manner.
  • Able to hear oral communication either in person or on equipment such as telephone or mobile phone.
  • Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop, for extended periods of time creating, composing and reviewing documents and spreadsheets.
