Job Description & How to Apply Below
We are partnering with an established, multi-location organization in Houston to identify a Senior Accountant for their corporate accounting team. This position is ideal for an experienced accountant who enjoys owning the accounting process for multiple operating locations and wants a role with more responsibility than simply processing transactions. The company is looking for someone who understands how accounting activity ultimately impacts the financial statements, can identify issues independently, and is comfortable working directly with business leaders.
The Opportunity
The Senior Accountant will have responsibility for the accounting and financial reporting associated with several operating locations. This individual will manage a variety of accounting activities throughout the month while ensuring deadlines are met and financial information is accurate.
The successful candidate will be comfortable balancing multiple priorities, investigating unusual activity, and asking questions when something does not make sense. This team values accountants who can analyze the numbers rather than simply follow a checklist.
Key Responsibilities
+ Manage full-cycle accounting activities for multiple operating locations.
+ Take ownership of assigned general ledger accounts and related month-end close responsibilities.
+ Prepare monthly financial statements and internal management reporting.
+ Review financial activity for accuracy and investigate unusual trends or variances.
+ Prepare journal entries, accruals, and other recurring accounting adjustments.
+ Complete balance sheet and other account reconciliations on a monthly and quarterly basis.
+ Reconcile activity between operating locations and corporate entities.
+ Review accounting documentation and supporting information for completeness and accuracy.
+ Work directly with operational and corporate leaders to resolve accounting questions and communicate financial results.
+ Assist with cash-related reporting and other recurring financial schedules.
+ Support accounts payable and other accounting functions as needed.
+ Assist with internal and external audit requests.
+ Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
+ Support accounting policy changes and other department initiatives as the organization continues to evolve.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This role offers more ownership than a traditional Senior Accountant position. Rather than being responsible for one small piece of the accounting cycle, this individual will have visibility into the complete financial picture for multiple areas of the business.
The organization is also preparing for continued improvements within its accounting environment, giving this person the opportunity to participate in system enhancements, process improvements, and other finance initiatives.
