Accounts Receivable Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our client's accounting team in North Houston. This position will focus exclusively on accounts receivable, cash applications, account reconciliation, and collections support. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and experience managing customer accounts and outstanding balances in a fast-paced environment.

• Manage assigned customer accounts and maintain accurate accounts receivable records
• Apply customer payments accurately and timely to the appropriate accounts
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies, short pays, unapplied cash, and account variances
• Reconcile customer accounts and AR subledger balances
• Monitor outstanding receivables and aging reports
• Follow up with customers regarding past-due balances and payment status
• Assist with collections efforts and maintain consistent communication with customers
• Research account history and resolve customer inquiries related to outstanding balances and payments
• Prepare and maintain AR reports and account reconciliations
• Coordinate with internal teams to resolve account discrepancies and payment issues
• Maintain accurate documentation of customer communications and collection activity
• Assist with month-end close activities related to accounts receivable
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as needed

• 2+ years of accounts receivable experience preferred
• Strong experience with cash applications, account reconciliation, and collections
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to research discrepancies and independently resolve account issues
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with an ERP or accounting system preferred
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
