We’re partnering with a growing organization in Houston seeking a
Bilingual Senior Payroll & Benefits
to take full ownership of payroll operations across a multi-entity, multi-state environment. This is a hands-on role where you’ll manage the entire payroll lifecycle while contributing to process improvements and key internal initiatives.
This position sits within a collaborative HR/People team but operates as an independent contributor—ideal for someone who thrives in a structured, detail-driven environment and takes pride in accuracy and accountability.
Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for ~600 employees across weekly and biweekly cycles
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, taxes, deductions, bonuses, commissions, and other pay components
- Review and reconcile payroll data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues proactively
- Partner with managers to ensure timely timekeeping, approvals, and data accuracy
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations across multiple jurisdictions
- Handle employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and urgency
- Prepare and analyze payroll reports (compensation, taxes, deductions, leave, etc.)
- Support benefits-related payroll activities including deduction audits and invoice reconciliation
- Assist with open enrollment updates and ongoing benefits administration
- Maintain organized payroll records and support transition to digital file systems
- Contribute to internal projects such as audits, process improvements, and system enhancements
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, accounting, and external vendors
Qualifications
:
- 5+ years of payroll experience in a multi-state environment
- Hands-on experience with
UKG / Ulti Pro
required - Strong understanding of payroll compliance, reporting, and best practices
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel)
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while managing deadlines and competing priorities
- Professional, discreet, and trustworthy with sensitive information
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
- Experience with benefits auditing or pension-related work is a plus
- APA certification is a plus
- Fully onsite role (Houston) with flexibility potential after ramp-up
- Occasional extended hours may be required during peak cycles or projects
- No degree required; relevant experience is prioritized
