Hybrid in Downtown Houston
Seeking a Project Accountant with Oil & Gas experience who understands capital project close‑out, AFEs, and regulatory compliance
.
This role supports capital project cost accounting and Management of Change (MOC) activities for terminal and liquids assets. Ideal for a project accounting professional who has supported Engineering and Project Management teams and enjoys seeing projects through clean, compliant close‑out.
What You’ll DoProject Accounting and Close‑Out- Prepare and process project Completion Reports for West Coast assets
- Compile, analyze, and validate final project cost data, including inventory and supporting documentation
- Ensure project financials comply with Accounting, Regulatory, and SOX requirements
- Update regulatory databases monthly with Completion Report information
- Partner with Project Managers and Cost Analysts to ensure timely AFE review and project closure
- Review AFEs at the Property Unit level to confirm scope, material, and installation costs are accurately captured at close‑out
- Initiate and track MOC requests for Gulf Coast liquids terminal tanks
- Enter and maintain accurate MOC data in Maximo
- Coordinate reviews and approvals with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance
- Project costing, invoices, AFEs
- Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Preferred experience with Excel Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP
- 3–5 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry
- Strong background in project accounting, project cost reporting, or capital project support
- Experience working with AFEs, project close‑out, and compliance‑driven documentation
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Associate’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and accountable
- Able to work independently while collaborating across Accounting, Regulatory, and Project teams
- Problem‑solver with a focus on accuracy and compliance
- Ongoing training and compliance requirements are part of the role
- Must be eligible to work in the United States on a W‑2 basis without visa sponsorship now or in the future
