Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Job Cost Administrator to support field operations for large-scale electrical construction projects across the nation. In this role, you will act as a key liaison between project teams and accounting, manage subcontractor pay schedules, and ensure accurate tracking of job costs, billing, and financial documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

+ Serve as a primary liaison between project managers, subcontractors, and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely financial coordination for construction projects.

+ Manage subcontractor pay schedules, including the preparation, review, and processing of payment applications and related documentation.

+ Support construction projects by coordinating subcontractor billing, progress billing, and the collection and verification of lien waivers.

+ Track and maintain job cost records, ensuring all project expenses are accurately coded, documented, and aligned with project budgets.

+ Monitor project budgets and job cost reports to identify variances, support financial forecasting, and assist with cost control efforts.

+ Review, reconcile, and analyze large volumes of financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness of job cost and accounts payable information.

+ Prepare and maintain financial documentation related to job cost accounting, including reports, logs, and supporting schedules for internal and external stakeholders.

+ Use Microsoft Excel to create and update job cost reports, perform data analysis, and support financial decision-making for project teams.

+ Collaborate with project managers and field personnel to resolve billing discrepancies, clarify cost allocations, and address financial issues as they arise.

+ Maintain organized records of contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and payment documentation to support audits and internal reviews.

+ Prioritize and manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all financial activities.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in construction accounting, project accounting, job cost accounting, accounts payable, or a related accounting/finance role, preferably with multiple years of relevant experience.

+ Experience supporting construction projects, including subcontractor billing, payment applications, lien waivers, and progress billing.

+ Strong understanding of job cost tracking, project budgets, and financial documentation within a construction environment.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, nested formulas, data analysis, reconciliation, and advanced filtering, sorting, and reporting functions.

+ Ability to review and analyze large volumes of financial data with a high degree of accuracy.

+ Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and accounting teams.

+ High level of attention to detail with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

Additional

+ Experience in a large-scale electrical or general construction environment.

+ Familiarity with progress billing, lien waiver processes, and subcontractor payment workflows.

+ Comfort working with financial and project documentation in a fast-paced, project-driven setting.

+ Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and support cross-functional teams.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.44 - $31.25/hr.
