Payroll Accountant

SCI is seeking a Payroll Accountant II to support the accounting and financial reporting functions related to payroll. This is not a payroll processing role
. The ideal candidate will have experience with the accounting side of payroll, including payroll reconciliations, journal entries, account analyses, month-end close activities, and payroll-related financial reporting.

• Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries to the general ledger.
• Reconcile payroll accounts, including wages, taxes, benefits, accruals, and deductions.
• Analyze payroll data and investigate discrepancies or variances.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to payroll accounting.
• Reconcile payroll information between Workday and the general ledger.
• Assist with payroll tax, benefit, and accrual account reconciliations.
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2-5 years of accounting experience with significant exposure to payroll accounting.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
• Experience preparing journal entries and supporting month-end close activities.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Experience working in a large, multi-state or multi-location organization.
• Knowledge of payroll tax accounting and benefit accounting.
• Experience supporting audits and financial reporting processes.
