Billing Specialist

Description

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable/Billing Specialist to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. This position is ideal for someone with strong AR and complex billing experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with sales teams, and ensuring billing accuracy and contract compliance.

This role will be responsible for managing assigned customer contracts, preparing invoices, reviewing billing activity, and serving as a key resource for billing-related questions and contract interpretation.

Key Responsibilities

+ Prepare and process timely and accurate customer invoices.

+ Review and audit billing data to ensure invoice accuracy and compliance with customer contracts.

+ Analyze contract terms and determine billable versus non-billable items.

+ Manage a portfolio of assigned customer accounts and contracts.

+ Partner closely with Sales and Operations teams to resolve billing discrepancies and answer contract-related questions.

+ Review revenue and contract information prior to invoicing.

+ Research and resolve customer billing issues.

+ Maintain organized documentation to support invoicing and contract compliance.

+ Assist with accounts receivable functions and other special projects as needed.

Requirements

+ 5+ years of Accounts Receivable, Billing, or related accounting experience.

+ Strong understanding of complex billing environments.

+ Ability to read, interpret, and apply contract terms and conditions.

+ Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

+ Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.

+ Effective written and verbal communication skills.

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting/billing systems.

+ High School Diploma required; degree not required.

Preferred Experience

+ Marine industry billing experience highly preferred.

+ Logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, or supply chain industry experience strongly preferred.

+ Experience working with contract-based billing structures.

+ Comfortable interacting regularly with internal sales teams and stakeholders.
