Job Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Downtown Houston, TX
Compensation: $60,000 - $65,000 per year
Benefits: This position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our client's accounting team in Downtown Houston. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with a few years of experience who is looking to continue developing their skills in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
Key Responsibilities- Perform general ledger account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
- Prepare and post journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed
- Reconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts
- Review financial transactions for accuracy and proper coding
- Assist with preparation of financial statements and internal accounting reports
- Research and resolve discrepancies and variances
- Maintain supporting schedules and accounting documentation
- Assist with accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed asset accounting
- Support the accounting team with audit requests and financial analysis
- Ensure accounting records are maintained in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
- Perform other accounting duties and special projects as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required
- 2-4 years of accounting experience preferred
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles
- Experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
