About the Job
Temporary Bilingual Voter Clerk
Location: Downtown Houston
Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday (with extended hours during election cycles)
Pay: $15.00/hour
Assignment Dates: February 9, 2026 - March 6, 2026
Openwork is partnering with Harris County to support the Voter Registration Division during upcoming election cycles. As a Temporary Bilingual Voter Clerk, you'll help ensure voter records are accurate and that community members receive respectful, helpful service.

What You'll Do: You'll support the voter registration process by:
- Processing voter registration applications, updates, and cancellations accurately.
- Reviewing documents to ensure they meet election guidelines.
- Entering and maintaining voter information in secure databases.
- Assisting voters by phone, email, mail, and in person in a professional, nonpartisan manner.
- Providing clear, unbiased information about voter registration procedures.
- Organizing, scanning, and securely filing official records.
- Meeting important deadlines during busy election periods.
- Following all county procedures and maintaining strict confidentiality.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of clerical, administrative, or customer service experience.
- Comfortable with data entry and basic computer systems.
- Ability to quickly learn election-related procedures.
- Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute (assessment required).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
- Reliable attendance and a strong sense of accountability.
- Experience with elections, voter registration, or government offices.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish, Chinese, or Vietnamese.
- Experience working in fast-paced environments with firm deadlines.
- Take pride in accurate, detail-focused work.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with people from all backgrounds.
- Stay organized and calm when things get busy.
- Want to be part of meaningful public service.
This is a temporary, full-time assignment expected to run from February 9, 2026 through March 6, 2026. During peak election periods, extended hours - including evenings and weekends - may be required.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of:
- Background screening.
- Drug testing.
- Education and employment verification.
