Temporary Ballot by Mail Clerk

Location: Houston, TX - Near George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

(Additional hours may be required during peak election cycles)

Pay: $17.00 per hour | Weekly Pay

Assignment Type: Temporary, Full-Time

Openwork is currently seeking organized and dependable professionals to support Harris County's Ballot by Mail operations. This position plays an important role in ensuring that election materials are processed accurately, securely, and in compliance with established procedures.

If you are detail-oriented and comfortable working in a structured, deadline-driven environment, this opportunity offers valuable experience in public sector operations.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Accurately enter and update information in election management systems.
  • Prepare outgoing mail by printing, assembling, labeling, and organizing materials.
  • Sort, scan, distribute, and file incoming mail.
  • Respond to incoming phone calls and document call details.
  • Operate office and commercial equipment, including printers and scanners.
  • Reconcile documentation and verify information for accuracy.
  • Move and organize files, boxes, and other materials as needed.
  • Provide additional administrative support during high-volume periods.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong data entry and basic computer skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow structured procedures and meet deadlines.
  • Professional communication skills.
  • Reliable attendance.
Preferred Experience:
  • Call center or high-volume administrative experience.
  • Interest in election operations or public service.
  • Familiarity with Harris County election processes.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 30-40 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
This is a temporary assignment supporting election operations. During peak periods, extended hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required screenings in accordance with applicable regulations.
