DescriptionBaker Botts L.L.P. has an opening for a temporary Summer Recruiting Intern from May 2026 through August 2026 (the exact dates are flexible; however, a 10-week commitment is required). This position is based in our Houston office and requires in-office presence. The Intern, under the supervision of the Recruiting Manager, will support summer associate programming and recruiting initiatives for the Houston, Austin, and Dallas offices, with primary responsibility for supporting the Summer Associate Program and related administrative initiatives.
The Intern will work closely with the local Hiring Partner, Recruiting team, and Employment Committee.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day administration of the Summer Associate Program, including onboarding/offboarding logistics, event coordination, and program communications.
- Track and monitor summer program budgets and assist with expense management.
- Pull and compile Employment Committee materials and other recruiting reports.
- Draft, format, and send event invitations and calendar holds via Microsoft Outlook.
- Maintain recruiting data and assist with applicant tracking and reporting.
- Provide general administrative and project support for Houston, Austin, and Dallas recruiting initiatives.
- Assist with lateral hiring on an as needed basis.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma is required, some college courses preferred.
- Prior experience in a professional services, administrative, or legal environment preferred.
- Strong technical skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point). Experience with Canva is a plus. - Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor with a strong client service orientation.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-starter with strong follow-through and reliability.
- Ability to work occasional evenings as program needs require.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with partners, associates, and law students.
Working Conditions and Environment
- This is a 37.5-hour per week non-exempt position and due to the nature of the position some evening and weekend work is required. The physical demands of the position are minimal.
Physical Demands (Walking, lifting, equipment, operation, etc.)
- Must be able to routinely lift and carry items weighing 5-10 pounds.
- Must be able to work at a computer for considerable periods of time.
- Must be able to lift, squat, kneel and bend.
- Position requires the ability to visit face-to-face and on the phone with summer associates, lawyers, caterers, and event planners.
