Bailey Cowan Heckaman PLLC (BCH), a well‑established national plaintiff law practice, is seeking an administrative assistant to join our winning team located near the Galleria in Houston, Texas. BCH is dedicated to the fundamental idea of helping people; we are passionate about standing up for the little guy and have recovered billions of dollars in verdicts and settlements on behalf of our clients.
We are looking for someone with a strong hands‑on work ethic and the same amount of passion about helping our clients and doing the best job possible.
As a legal administrative assistant with our firm, you will be responsible for a variety of assignments but will focus primarily on processing settlements for our highly successful asbestos and personal injury dockets. This position will also assist with the execution of day‑to‑day activities of the asbestos and personal injury department – we are team based and want someone who will thrive in a fast‑paced team atmosphere.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Follow up for releases from defendants
- Prepare releases to be sent out to clients
- Track the return of releases from clients
- Send the executed releases and supporting documents to the defendant
- Assist with lien reporting and tracking
- Mail settlement statements to clients
- Prepare dismissals
- Maintain related data in the firm’s client management database (Needles)
- Be organized and detail oriented, ensuring systematic tracking and continual follow‑up on outstanding releases
- Possess good writing, proofreading and editing skills
- Perform administrative functions such as mailing, copying and scanning
- Assist attorneys and other department members as needed
College Graduate
SkillsProficient in Microsoft Products (Outlook, Word and Excel) and Adobe.
OtherBilingual (Spanish) helpful but not required.
