The Intern supports the assigned department by performing task-oriented duties while providing administrative and operational support on campus. Divisions may include but are not limited to Communications, Outreach & Engagement;
Office of Technology Services;
Student Services;
Administrative Services;
Legal Services;
Human Resources; and academic divisions. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
- Performs administrative duties such as scheduling meetings, organizing files, and coordinating correspondence
- May input, update, and maintain data in organizational databases and calendars ensuring the accuracy and integrity of information
- Provides support to customers, including answering queries and providing information by in‑person or electronic communications, campus tours, or at events on or off campus
- Assists with the planning, execution, and completion of initiatives and events, which may include presentations, conducting research, compiling data, and preparing materials and reports
- Provides data entry and customer service support
- Staffs front desk of the LED providing outstanding support to faculty, staff, and students who need assistance
- Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
- Familiarity with office software applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or equivalent
- May require excellent technical knowledge of network, PC hardware, and software
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Excellent public speaking skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in performing tasks
- Ability to work well within a diverse population as well as autonomously
- Ability to contribute positively to team dynamics and outcomes
- Ability to handle sensitive information
- Ability to exhibit professionalism in conduct, integrity, punctuality, and adherence to workplace expectations and policies
The work is both sedentary with the employee sitting comfortably to do the work and can also require long periods of standing and lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds. May be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No additional special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Schedule And Conditions- Equipment used includes PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed inside and outdoors, with exposure to dust, dirt, etc
- High school diploma or GED
- Currently enrolled at LSC-CyFair in good academic standing
Hourly Pay Rate is $16.33
