* Maintain complete, accurate, and organized laboratory records, including test reports, worksheets, sample documentation, calibration records, training records, and AASHTO accreditation files.
* Prepare, review, and submit required laboratory reports and supporting documentation to TxDOT and other agencies within established deadlines.
* Compile, review, and analyze laboratory and production data; identify trends, discrepancies, nonconforming results, and materials requiring additional technical follow-up.
* Evaluate raw materials, including asphalt binders, polymers, oils, rubber, additives, and other components, for suitability, quality, specification compliance, and potential use in production or development work.
* Assist in troubleshooting off-specification or nonconforming materials by reviewing test data, coordinating retesting, helping identify probable causes, and documenting recommended corrective actions.
* Plan, prepare, and test laboratory blends for product development, formulation adjustments, raw material evaluations, cost optimization, and other R&D projects as directed.
* Perform or coordinate asphalt binder and related materials testing in accordance with company procedures, ASTM, AASHTO, TxDOT, and other applicable test methods.
* Prepare Certificates of Analysis and other customer documentation using approved test results, specifications, and product information.
* Assist with AASHTO accreditation activities, including document control, calibration and verification records, proficiency samples, corrective actions, and employee training records.
* Provide administrative and personal-assistant support to the Laboratory Director, including calendar management, meetings, correspondence, task tracking, travel, expense documentation, and technical follow-up items.
* Background knowledge or experience with asphalt binders, polymer modified asphalt, emulsions, oils, rubber, additives, aggregates, or related construction materials.
* Familiarity with AASHTO, ASTM, TxDOT, and other standards applicable to asphalt binder testing, laboratory quality systems, and accreditation requirements.
* Experience with laboratory blending, formulation work, raw material evaluation, data analysis, document control, regulatory reporting, or technical administration.
REQUIREMENTS
* Strong problem solving, analytical reasoning, and technical judgment, including the ability to review laboratory data and recognize results requiring investigation or escalation.
* Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records while managing multiple technical and administrative deadlines.
* Good verbal and written communication skills, including preparation of reports, business correspondence, customer documentation, and technical summaries.
* Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, exercise sound judgment, handle confidential information appropriately, and support both laboratory and administrative functions.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; ability to learn laboratory, data-management, and document-management systems.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
B.S. degree related to Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, Engineering, Construction Materials, or a closely related technical field is preferred. Equivalent experience in asphalt binder testing, laboratory blending, quality documentation, materials testing, technical administration, or laboratory support may be considered. Two or more years of experience in a laboratory, quality, materials, or technical administrative role is preferred.

High school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate or bachelor's degree in business administration, laboratory science, quality management, or a related field is preferred. Two or more years of experience in technical recordkeeping, laboratory administration, quality documentation, or executive/administrative support is preferred.
