Under direct supervision, the Public Safety Records Management Clerk is responsible for receiving, reviewing, processing, and fulfilling requests for public safety records from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to support active investigations. This role includes researching and resolving violations involving authorized emergency vehicles and responding to authorized public information requests.
The Public Safety Records Clerk ensures compliance with all applicable legal requirements, Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards, and internal policies while maintaining strict confidentiality. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective time management to deliver accurate, timely, and secure information in support of law enforcement inquiries and non-revenue invoice accounts, contributing to the Harris County Toll Road’s core mission.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible for executing the duties and responsibilities listed below and other duties as assigned. Some positions may require working before, during, or after an emergency or disaster at the department’s discretion.
- Assists in researching and resolving violations involving approved Harris County vehicles and authorized emergency vehicles in accordance with Texas Transportation Code § 541.201.
- Receives, reviews, processes, and fulfills records requests from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to support active investigations.
- Processes requests to activate, deactivate, and manage EZ Tags for authorized Harris County non-revenue and non-revenue invoice accounts.
- Assists in processing Public Information Act (PIA) requests related to the Public Safety and Operations department.
- Performs general office duties, including typing, data entry, and operating standard office equipment. Supports and is cross‑trained in functions related to front desk operations.

Education and Experience- High school diploma or GED.
- One (1) year of general clerical experience or administrative experience.
- Typing proficiency of at least 35 words per minute.
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet established deadlines in a high volume environment
- Adaptability to changing priorities or urgent requests
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Proficiency with electronic document management systems, scanning equipment, and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- Knowledge of confidentiality requirements and records management compliance standards
- Problem‑solving and research skills
Light work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.

Position Type and Typical Hours Work- This is a full‑time position.
- The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Additional evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required to meet operational demands.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
