Payroll Clerk

Clayton Services is searching for a Payroll Clerk to join a growing construction organization in North Houston. The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for supporting weekly payroll operations, accurately entering employee and equipment hours, maintaining confidential records, and assisting with various administrative functions in a fast-paced office environment.

Job Type: Temp-to-Hire Pay Rate: $23.00 - $26.00/hour Benefits:
Excellent benefits available after the successful completion of the temporary period, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) w/ match, PTO, and more.

Payroll Clerk Responsibilities:
  • Enter and verify employee time records and equipment usage information
  • Assist with the preparation and processing of weekly payroll
  • Review payroll information for accuracy and resolve discrepancies as needed
  • Maintain confidential payroll, employee, and company information
  • Prepare, organize, and file payroll-related documentation
  • Provide administrative support to the accounting and operations teams
  • Assist with special projects and additional office duties as assigned
  • Ensure payroll processes comply with company policies and procedures

Skills and Abilities:
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong data accuracy skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer applications
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn new systems and processes
  • Basic mathematical aptitude and problem-solving capabilities
Payroll Clerk

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Additional coursework or certification in payroll, accounting, or business administration is preferred
  • Previous office, administrative, payroll, or data entry experience required
  • Prior construction payroll experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment is a plus
  • Familiarity with payroll software and timekeeping systems preferred
