Media Center Assistant
Primary
Purpose:
Maintain inventory of digital and print resources. Perform routine clerical duties and assistance to teachers, students, principals, and district Media Specialist(s). Serve as the daily facilitator of all aspects of the campus media center.
Qualifications/
Skills:
- Education/Certification:
Minimum of 48 college hours or high school diploma/equivalent plus pass a District Assessment Educational Aide Certification - Special Knowledge/
Skills:
Ability to work with children Ability to work and communicate with children and adults effectively Computer literate Ability to operate various office equipment (copier/fax machine)
Major
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Clerical Support:
Ensure the media center is a welcoming and inviting space for students, teachers, and staff Facilitate the daily operations of the campus media center including but not limited to: material circulation, book displays, bulletin boards, and general media center maintenance Ensure the media center is organized and orderly for optimal use Prepare and maintain records including but not limited to print and digital resources Assist students with book selections in alignment with district policy, age appropriateness, and individual interests Repair media center materials as needed Maintain accurate records of payment for lost and/or damaged media center materials Implement monthly media center programming and activities with fidelity Promote and facilitate district-wide special events (reading challenges, STEM days, etc.)
on campus Assist the media specialist with district-wide special events - Communication/Reception and Phones:
Collaborate with campus leadership to coordinate parent volunteers for the campus media center - Other:
Attend all required professional learning opportunities provided by the Digital Resources and Media Center Support department. Develop and maintain proficiency in the use of the district library management system. Participate in cross-training as needed

Computer and various office equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public. - Physical Demands:
Repetitive hand motions. Prolonged use of the computer. Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling. Lifting and moving books, media equipment, tables, chairs, other furniture and/or equipment. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
