Houston, Texas: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Document Controller to support engineering and capital projects by ensuring the accurate control, organization, distribution, and maintenance of project documentation throughout the project lifecycle. This role is responsible for maintaining document integrity, enforcing document control standards, coordinating with internal project teams and contractors, and ensuring all project records are complete, accurate, and compliant with company requirements.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced with document management systems in an industrial or engineering environment.
- Manage all project documentation, including drawings, correspondence, internal documentation, transmittals, and final project records.
- Ensure compliance with established document control procedures, numbering standards, workflows, and company policies.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of project information within the Information Management System (IMS).
- Implement and enforce document control processes that support project execution and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor contractor document control activities to ensure adherence to company document management standards.
- Coordinate document distribution, revisions, approvals, and archiving throughout the project lifecycle.
- Respond to project documentation requests, status updates, and information inquiries from project stakeholders.
- Track document deliverables and expedite submissions to support project schedules and milestones.
- Ensure project documentation is complete and properly prepared for final turnover and operational handover.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with project teams, contractors, and key stakeholders.
- Participate in project meetings and provide document management support as needed.
- Assist with document control training, process improvements, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Research and apply industry best practices related to document management and information governance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project documentation and document management systems.
Skills:
- Experience in document control, records management, or information management supporting engineering, construction, or industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of document control principles, processes, and lifecycle management.
- Experience working with document management systems (IMS, EDMS, or similar platforms).
- Basic understanding of project documentation requirements for operations and project handover.
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments and with external contractors.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to travel occasionally between local project offices as needed.
- Ability to perform repetitive computer and keyboard tasks throughout the workday.
