Job Description Position Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of HPS discipline procedures
  • Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides support to Dean of Students/Assistant Principal in student discipline.
  • Prepares all correspondence including letters, memorandums, agendas, reports, minutes, and other documents.
  • Maintains calendar and schedules appointments as needed.
  • Make and answers related calls, records messages, and re‑directs inquiries to the appropriate individual.
  • Maintains office filing system.
  • Copies, faxes, and files correspondence as requested.
  • Assists with related data input.
  • Communicates with parents and key stakeholders as directed by the Dean of Students/Assistant Principal. Takes and transcribes dictation.
  • Supervises the in‑school suspension room when students are assigned.
  • Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word‑processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
  • Ability to use effective public speaking skills, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent behavior issues and psychology.
  • Ability to identify problems and proactively find solutions.
Work Environment and

Physical Requirements
  • Light work: may require the occasional light lifting.
  • Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
  • Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
  • Moderate travel is required.
