SUMMARY:
Incumbents operate in a busy environment with a high volume of customers and must possess integrity, dependability, time management, and organizational skills. Provide superior customer service support to the general public via phone, email, and in-person interactions. Coordinates a wide variety of administrative duties for the Public Works Department permit process. Maintains official records and assists in the administration of the standard operating policies and procedures of the department.
TYPICALCLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

TRAINING ANDEXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience in assigned area of responsibility; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:Depending on assignment, may require valid Texas driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE:- Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work;
- Filing and record-keeping principles;
- Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices;
- Uses and properties of supplies and equipment;
- Applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations (based on assignment).
- Customer service principles;
- Conflict resolution principles;
- Computers and applicable software.
- Conducting inspections, identifying violations, and enforcing ordinances;
- Issuing permits;
- Preparing, organizing, and maintaining basic reports and documents;
- Performing basic research, compiling and assembling data;
- Organizing and maintaining records and files;
- Operating assigned tools and equipment;
- Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards (based on assignment).
- Providing customer service;
- Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications;
- Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.
Work is in an office environment. Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work:
Exerting 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
In order to be hired, applicants will need to pass a background check, a drug screen, physical exam, and a reference check.
