Scope and

Purpose:

Manhattan Life is seeking Premium Billing Specialists to join our Premiums team. As our new Premium Billing Specialist, you will ensure premium payments are credited to each policyholder's account. As well as being responsible for responding to written inquiries on premium payments, coverage paid to date and billing options.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review and respond to billing and receivables.
  • Researchandprocessaccountingtransactionsrelatedtointernalorexternalcustomerrequests.
  • Processaccountingtransactionsonfinancialsubsidiarysystemsandthegeneralledger.
  • Provideinformationandprepareadjustingentriesasneeded.
  • Communicatediscrepanciestopolicyowners,administrators,fieldforceandinternalcontacts.
  • Dailyprocessingof incomingwires,providingbackuptoother areasasneededon wire payments.
  • Buildandmaintaineffectiveworkingrelationshipswithpolicyowners,listbilladministrators,brokers,Master General Agents, field force,andhomeoffice staff.
  • Process andmanagestaledatedchecksandpremiumwaiversas directed.
  • Buildlegallydefensiblebillingand policyfiles for financial reportingcompliance.
  • Scan, documentand imagecompletedbatches and billingchanges.
  • Complete special projects and tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

High School Graduate or equivalent (GED); 3 years related work experience in account/system reconciliation and/or accounts payable; or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • 10 key by touch.
  • Ability to make procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.
  • Dependable and flexible.
  • Computer literate; demonstrates proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong data and records management skills.
Travel Requirements:

This position may require light travel within a ten-mile radius from one office location to another as needed.
