Role Description This full-time, on-site Automotive Technician / Suspension Specialist role is based in Houston, TX. The specialist will diagnose, repair, and maintain suspension systems, including shocks, struts, control arms, lift kits, and alignment-related components. Daily tasks include performing inspections, troubleshooting issues, and completing suspension installations and upgrades in accordance with safety and manufacturer specifications. The role involves using diagnostic tools and shop equipment, documenting work performed, and communicating clearly with service advisors and customers about findings and recommended repairs.

The technician will also assist with general automotive repair tasks, follow shop procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area, and support a positive team environment.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with suspension systems, including installation, repair, and adjustment of shocks, struts, lift kits, and alignment-related components.
  • General automotive repair and maintenance skills, such as diagnostics, braking systems, steering, and undercarriage inspections.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment (lifts, alignment machines, torque tools) safely and effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service procedures, and vehicle specifications, with strong attention to detail.
  • Solid problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify root causes of suspension and handling issues and recommend practical solutions.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and customers.
  • Commitment to safety practices, adherence to shop policies, and consistent, high-quality workmanship.
  • Previous experience in an automotive shop or suspension specialty environment preferred; relevant certifications (ASE or similar) are a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in automotive technology is beneficial.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy components, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks associated with automotive repair.
