The Business Development Specialist contributes to the mission of the PTSD Foundation of America by overseeing development, administration, prospect research, and support of solicitation and stewardship cycles.

Job Description: The Business Development Specialist will be responsible for advising on operating procedures, planning, fundraising programs, engaging with support agencies, promoting events, creating development calendars, maintaining databases, and preparing prospect materials.

Responsibilities: The Business Development Specialist will:

  • Collaborate with the Development team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Create reports, ensure data integrity, perform data analysis, and assist with data management.
  • Prepare reports, queries, donor profiles, prospect lists, and mailing lists.
  • Assist with gift processing, acknowledgments, and thank you letters.
  • Track expenses and revenues within the budget.
  • Secure sponsor ships and assist with departmental events.
  • Develop and execute donor solicitation strategies to generate revenue.
  • Design and oversee a stewardship program engaging all constituents.
  • Promote the foundation’s brand and maintain donor relationships.
  • Prepare materials for meetings with prospective donors.
  • Assist with grants and coordinate with third-party grant writers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements: The candidate should have:

  • Experience in a Hunter/Farmer role (acquiring new partners and nurturing existing relationships).
  • Post-secondary education in Non-profit Development Management, Fundraising, Business, or 2 years related experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Donor Perfect, or other CRM platforms.
  • Strong project management, customer service, and relationship skills.
  • Ability to work weekends.
  • Professional attitude, ability to work independently and in a team, and adaptability.
  • Enthusiasm for the foundation’s mission and building a culture of philanthropy.

Physical Requirements:

  • Extended sitting or standing.
  • Effective communication skills involving hearing and vocal abilities.
  • Potential exposure to outdoor weather and pathogens; may require PPE.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds if needed.
