Overview

What’s the role? Shell Energy North America is seeking a Senior Natural Gas Fundamentals Analyst to join our long term North America fundamental analysis team embedded in the Trading division. This role develops medium (2 to 5 year) and long term (5 to 20+ years) natural gas analytics using the GPCM tool. The successful candidate will work closely with all other analysts within the team.

The role brings together internally derived supply and demand views and models those forecasts within GPCM to derive long term price forecasts by region. The long term natural gas demand analyst will generate long term demand views (Industrial and LNG Exports) and extract the components that drive natural gas demand and influence natural gas prices. This position primarily supports our E&P side of the business with analysis developed from a deep understanding of key drivers such as macroeconomics, GDP forecasts by industry, GTL, LNG Exports, etc.

It builds credibility with internal customers so that foresight can be translated into commercial gain primarily in the E&P side of the business function but also in Trading. The emphasis is on developing qualitatively and quantitatively advantaged capabilities, supported by models, tools and techniques that yield high quality insight. Collaborating with peers in the Fundamentals team to build scalability is essential.

  • Develop long dated LNG export view – understand global indicators that influence the domestic market.
  • Develop tools and models to enhance the quality and accuracy of forecasts, with emphasis on building price and regional demand forecasts.
  • Consolidate regional supply/demand views into GPCM and generate price forecasts by region.
  • Expand contacts, both internally and externally, to improve the quality and timeliness of intelligence.
  • Maintain positive relationships with external consultants and leverage information and analysis they provide to maximize productivity in supporting Shell Energy North America.
  • Capture synergies between the near- and long-term Fundamentals teams.
  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Build strong networks across the Shell network.
