Inc. and Lummus Technology and a leading licensor of refining and hydroprocessing technologies, renewable fuel processes, and high-performance catalysts. Role

Summary

The Global Director, Business Development will direct CLG’s worldwide commercial growth agenda—setting strategy, leading a high performing team, expanding revenues, and deepening strategic customer and partner relationships. This leader will drive opportunity origination, shepherd contracts and agreements through internal governance, and ensure seamless handover to delivery—all while strengthening CLG’s market position.

Key Responsibilities Strategy & Growth
  • Define and execute the global business development strategy to meet revenue, margin, and market‑share objectives; align with corporate/technology roadmaps and regional priorities.
  • Identify new markets and segments, develop go‑to‑market plans, and lead pipeline health, forecasting, and KPI cadence across regions.
  • Translate market and competitive intelligence into portfolio and pricing strategies; advise on investment priorities and product positioning.
Commercial Leadership & Deal Execution
  • Provide executive commercial leadership for priority pursuits, from solution framing to proposal strategy, risk review, term sheet development, and final negotiations.
  • Oversee quotation/RFP responses, coordinate cross‑functional inputs (technology, legal, finance), and ensure a coordinated handover to operations for flawless delivery and cash realization.
  • Lead complex contract negotiations including IP‑driven commercial matters and manage governance for approvals and risk mitigation.
Customer, Partner & Ecosystem Engagement
  • Build and sustain trusted, senior‑level relationships with key licensees, operators, EPCs, and strategic partners; ensure post‑award engagement and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive CLG’s differentiated value proposition across technologies and catalyst offerings.
  • Strengthen, develop and leverage strategic partnerships to enhance solution breadth and outcomes for customers.
Team Leadership & Operating Excellence
  • Lead, coach, and scale a global BD organization, including regional directors and proposal/commercial managers; set targets and drive accountability.
  • Institutionalize deal review, commercial risk analysis, and pricing disciplines; maintain opportunity documentation, approvals, and performance dashboards.
  • Champion voice‑of‑customer feedback to technology managers and R&D; inform roadmap, performance guarantees, and service models.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years in international sales/business development for technology licensing, catalysts, and/or refinery/petrochemical projects, including material revenue and P&L accountability.
  • Demonstrated success in IP‑driven sales, complex negotiations, and cross‑functional governance with legal/finance/engineering.
  • Deep market knowledge in refining, petrochemicals, catalysts, and high‑investment project economics.
  • Track record of leading global teams across cultures; exceptional executive communication and stakeholder influence.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in technologies and catalysts across hydrotreating, hydrocracking/resid (lube oils renewables and circular processes.
  • Established relationships with hydroprocessing customers and catalyst partners.
  • Experience shaping digital/analytics‑enabled commercial models.
