Overview
Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an immediate opening for an Operations Manager at NRG Park in Houston, Texas. The position will support the facility’s operations for events in its major venues, including the NRG Center, NRG Stadium, NRG Astrodome and NRG Arena.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all aspects of operations including event coordination, rigging, housekeeping, event staffing, set‑ups and changeovers, crowd and risk management, fire and life safety, and ADA compliance.
- Manage subordinate supervisors who oversee employees in various functional areas.
- Implement and train all employees on operating procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, emergency plans, and safety/risk‑management policies that conform to NRG Park standards.
- Assist in the preparation and negotiation of service agreements for event services, housekeeping, maintenance, and other required agreements.
- Inspect conversions, construction, and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications.
- Authorize the requisition of equipment and supplies within budgetary guidelines.
- Act as a liaison between tenants and facility contractors as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Interview, hire, and train employees.
- Plan, assign, and direct work.
- Appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, address complaints and resolve problems.
- Demonstrate knowledge of operational procedures, rigging capabilities, industry terminology, event‑related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility.
- Demonstrate knowledge of practices and procedures related to event set‑up and conversions, cleaning and maintenance of facility equipment, and proper use and care of hand and power tools.
- Demonstrate ability to carry out tasks reliably, productively, and expediently, adhering to strict deadlines and general instructions.
- Understand and work from general instructions, specifications, blueprints, sketches, event documents, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment.
- Read and comprehend drawings, event documents, and preventive maintenance documents, and other related materials.
- Follow oral and written instructions, communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines, work effectively under pressure, and produce accurate results.
- Work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university and four (4) years of related experience in the public assembly industry in a supervisory or management position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred: 3 to 5 years of experience in the sports and entertainment and/or venue management industry; forklift experience preferred.
- Possess skills and experience in contract negotiations, business law, budget preparation, purchasing procedures, and supervising/training personnel.
- Work independently, exercise judgment and initiative, remain flexible, and adjust to situations as they occur.
- Computer skills: able to operate a personal computer using CAD, Outlook, Windows, Word, Excel and other standard office equipment.
- Be licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
Regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside the building as needed by events.
