About the Position
We are seeking a dynamic and results‑driven Business Development Specialist to support growth initiatives in the Clear Lake and Baytown areas. This role is ideal for a strategic professional who understands healthcare operations, thrives in relationship‑building, and is confident engaging with senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, hospital leadership, and C‑suite executives
- Identify and drive new business opportunities to expand managed care services within hospital systems
- Act as a liaison between clients, leadership, and internal teams to ensure seamless collaboration
- Support employers and organizations in navigating healthcare benefits and employee care solutions
- Deliver presentations and proposals to executive‑level stakeholders
- Track, manage, and report on business development activities and outcomes
- Stay informed on market trends and competitive landscape within the healthcare industry
- Increase outpatient and inpatient utilization of Houston Methodist services by educating stakeholders on services offered and efficient access methods
- Maintain a pipeline of prospective business, track all efforts and activities, and provide reports regularly to leadership
- Travel regularly to meet with internal and external stakeholders

Essential Functions People Essential Functions- Meet with internal and external stakeholders to develop relationships that lead to new business for Houston Methodist.
- Liaise with appropriate stakeholders to bring forth service, operations, scheduling, and other barrier issues.
- Maintain rapport with stakeholders to promote effective community health care provider interaction and utilization.
- Develop relationships and meet regularly with individuals and organizations to improve communications and education.
- Manage and prioritize multiple tasks, reevaluating priorities according to business needs.
- Communicate changes in policy and/or new services and programs effectively.
- Assist in problem solving and act as liaison to provide resolution as needed.
- Prepare reports to document and communicate activities using approved software.
- Stay abreast and adhere to current Stark, HIPAA and IRS regulations in accordance with Houston Methodist policies.
- Monitor regular reporting to meet or exceed quarterly targets.
- Research, analyze and monitor assigned markets to identify potential new business or improve service offerings.
- Coordinate or participate in events such as physician orientations, CME conferences, community health fairs, benefit fairs, chamber of commerce events, advisory groups, focus groups, luncheons, and outreach introductions.
- Identify opportunities to develop new business and assist with development and implementation as assigned.
- Facilitate relationships with stakeholders to increase effective and efficient professional interactions as needed.
- Recruit and/or onboard new team members, employees or physicians as appropriate.
- Bachelor’s degree or an additional four years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Five years of experience involving business development, sales or relevant experience.
- If current Houston Methodist employee, prior experience in Business Development, Project Management, Marketing, Finance, clinical operations or other related experience will count toward total years of experience.
- Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job.
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English necessary to perform essential functions.
- Effective communication with patients, physicians, family members and co‑workers with a customer‑service focus.
- Ability to work under pressure and balance competing priorities positively.
- Proficient in spreadsheet, word‑processing, and presentation software.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Professional handling of confidential/sensitive information.
- Excellent analytical skills.
