Wood is seeking an experienced Expeditor Lead to join our Process & Chemicals business. This opportunity is Hybrid.

The Role

Wood is currently seeking an experienced Expeditor Lead to join our team in Houston. The role is responsible for expediting purchase orders to ensure delivery on time and within project schedules and purchase order terms. The primary duties include coordinating desk and field expediting, ensuring clear understanding of processes, and managing complex packages and suppliers to identify delivery improvement opportunities through detailed analysis of supplier project schedules.

Responsibilities
  • Establish priorities, assign workloads and manage expediting team performance.
  • Review and manage the more difficult and complex aspects of the expediting workload.
  • Have detailed understanding of the supplier delivery obligations from the terms and conditions of purchase.
  • Review and interpret supplier production plans/schedules, identify delivery improvement opportunities, and negotiate delivery improvements / slippage recovery plans.
  • Create daily expediting reports in the materials management system.
  • Expedite purchase orders daily with priority focus.
  • Update the materials management system with the expediting status of purchase orders.
  • Set ongoing expediting follow-up dates in the materials management system.
  • Obtain quotations for field expediting plans and CVs of 3rd party expediting providers.
  • Place purchase orders for 3rd party expediting services.
  • Liaise with field expediting suppliers to coordinate expediting visits.
  • Receive, review and issue field expediting progress reports and update the system accordingly.
  • Review expediting reports to confirm status of orders, sub-orders and validate the agreed manufacturing schedules.
  • Monitor the progress of receipt and return of supplier documentation.
  • Notify the Supply Chain Manager of any potential schedule slippages.
  • Negotiate improved delivery / recovery plans where required.
  • Visit suppliers on request of the SCM and Material Manager on the project.
Qualifications

Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood, now or in the future.

  • Qualified to ISCED Level 4/5 (Post-Secondary non-tertiary/Short-Cycle tertiary).
  • Minimum 7 years expediting experience demonstrating results.
  • Detailed knowledge of suppliers, manufacturing schedules and expediting.
  • Detailed knowledge of terms and conditions of purchase/supplier obligations.
  • Previous experience in a similar level role.
  • Experience with ERP’s such as Maximo, Oracle, SAP.
  • Broad knowledge of supplier personal attributes.
  • Strong team player.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Adaptability and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Provide reports to senior management, as requested.
  • Delegate and coordinate tasks to colleagues.
