Job Summary

The Category Specialist will work with business partners to define procurement strategies for Shale & Tight well spend categories. Responsibilities include developing category plans, performing strategic sourcing of goods and services, managing supplier performance, and facilitating joint process improvements with suppliers to achieve the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO). The role supports medium‑sized clients/customers and contributes to more complex projects under periodic supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement category plans and strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Manage supplier performance and facilitate joint process improvements to minimize TCO.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships across functions, assets, and key suppliers.
  • Develop and execute joint strategic roadmaps with functions and key suppliers as One Team.
  • Establish and maintain commercial terms, rates, compensation methods, best practices, and market intelligence to ensure top‑quartile cost, schedule, reliability, and predictability.
  • Apply strategic thinking and business acumen, maintaining the big picture while making long‑term decisions.
  • Conduct market, demand, business, financial, supplier, and spend analysis for the Supply Chain Management team.
  • Support medium‑sized clients/customers and contribute to more complex projects under periodic supervision.
Qualifications
  • Required
    • 5+ years of supplier performance management experience.
    • Ability to understand, develop, and implement global portfolio strategies.
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related area.
  • Preferred
    • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering.
    • Experience in developing, negotiating, and managing large, complex contracts.
    • Ability to communicate effectively at varying organizational levels, both internally and externally.
    • Demonstrated composure and adaptability under demanding pressure.
