Position Summary

The Culinary Inventory Supervisor is responsible for managing and facilitating the flow of product, including receiving, inventory, and order pulling for Kids Cafe. This position collaborates with other departments, programs, and member agencies to ensure product needs are met. This role is required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

Essential Job Functions
  • Responsible for inventory verification and management.
  • Maintains organization of all Kids Café inventory and inventory locations in the warehouse according to guidelines from Houston Food Bank (HFB), American Institute of Baking (AIB), Harris County Health Department, and OSHA.
  • Procures and sources inventory items needed for kitchen programming adhering to HFB and TDA procurement guidelines.
  • Works with Procurement to initiate bid renewal processes for macro purchases and secures quotes from vendors.
  • Conducts monthly physical inventory recording of all Kids Café products in warehouse areas on the 1st of each month.
  • Works with kitchen leadership to proactively manage inventory reorders, with consideration given to lead times.
  • Records inventory weekly, monthly, and as needed.
  • Maintains reorder points of frequently distributed items.
  • Builds rotation and exit plans for aging inventory.
  • Adheres to current warehouse receiving policy including the check-in process, inspecting loads, and filling out Receiving Order Detail Sheet (RODS) once the truck has been unloaded.
  • Submits RODS and invoices to the Purchasing Clerk for all non-disposables and invoices for disposables.
  • Reports missing or damaged products to the Inventory Manager promptly.
  • Moves received product to designated location in the warehouse, maintaining first in first out (FIFO) product rotation.
  • Communicates with Kitchen leadership to determine withdrawals from warehouse areas necessary for daily production.
  • Transfers required items and amounts to designated locations for daily production.
  • With instruction from Kitchen leadership, returns excess product from production periods to appropriate locations in the warehouse while maintaining FIFO product rotation.
  • Coordinates with kitchen leadership, warehouse leaders, and associates for alterations to warehouse space and product placement.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of programs and special projects.
  • Provides verbal and written reports as required.
  • Maintains courteous working relationships with all HFB staff, volunteers, partners, and clients and provides excellent customer service internally and externally.
  • Attends and facilitates meetings, presentations, trainings, and other activities as required and on time.
  • Communicates regularly and clearly with supervisor and completes tasks according to agreed-upon deadlines.
  • Complies with and meets departmental goals and objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages one (1) or more direct reports by providing guidance and/or oversight to employees and/or contractors. Develops and maintains roles, responsibilities, and expectations. Practices performance management in support of employee development, and performs administrative duties associated with being a people manager. Responsibilities include interviewing, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems. Responsibilities also include sponsoring and participating in and/or supporting project teams sponsored by other management team members.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma from an accredited school or general education development (GED) certificate. Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • 1+ years of inventory management experience, including food warehousing, receiving/shipping, or inventory.
  • 1+ years of warehouse management system experience (Net Suite preferred).
