About Mavs

The Maverick Volleyball Club serves Ottawa and its surrounding communities in providing our youth with high-quality volleyball programs. Our Club takes pride in our successful track record of promoting and fostering leadership, organizational, team, and life skills for the benefit of its members.

Maverick Volleyball is forming a Recognition Committee to help build a program that celebrates the incredible contributions of our coaches and staff. This initiative is about more than awards; it’s about creating a culture where effort, commitment, and excellence are acknowledged and appreciated.

The committee will design the framework for recognition, including categories, criteria, and processes, and work closely with our communications team and event coordinator to bring these celebrations to life. By joining, you’ll play a key role in shaping how we honor the people who make Maverick Volleyball thrive.

We’re looking for 3–5 dedicated members who are passionate about fostering a positive environment and ensuring that recognition becomes a meaningful part of our organization.

Job Summary

The Recognition Committee Members will help design, launch, and steward Maverick Volleyball’s staff and coach recognition program. The goal is to build a fair, transparent, and inspiring program that celebrates contributions, strengthens culture, and models behaviors that improve athlete experiences and organizational effectiveness.

As a committee member, you’ll collaborate to define recognition categories, build SOPs, set criteria and processes, and evaluate impact. You’ll work closely with various teams within the organization to reach your objectives.

Key Responsibilities include:
Program Design & Governance
  • Co-create recognition categories, eligibility, and criteria aligned to organizational values.
  • Help draft and maintain SOPs (nominations, selection, governance).
  • Participate in selection panels and apply standardized scoring rubrics.
Nominations & Selection
  • Review nominations for completeness and eligibility.
  • Declare and manage conflicts of interest; recuse when appropriate.
  • Document rationales and decisions; maintain secure records.
Communications Support
  • Collaborate with the communications team to validate messaging and ensure alignment with brand standards.
  • Provide content ideas for announcements, winner spotlights, and recognition calendar.
  • Ensure committee timelines and decisions are communicated promptly.
Event Support
  • Work with the event coordinator to share program requirements for recognition events.
  • Provide input on award presentations and run‑of‑show.
  • Assist with volunteer tasks during events if needed.
Measurement & Improvement
  • Track KPIs (nominations volume, timeliness, representation, satisfaction).
  • Collect feedback via short surveys; propose improvements.
  • Contribute to an annual report and plan for Phase 2 (athlete recognition).
Essential Qualifications Experience
  • Experience in coaching, HR/DEI, governance, or committee work.
  • Familiarity with recognition programs or organizational culture initiatives.
  • Comfort working with cross‑functional teams (HR, communications, events).

  • No formal experience is required, but a degree in business administration is an asset.
