Clean Harbors Project Services Group is seeking a Site Safety Officer to join our team. The Site Safety Officer is primarily responsible for supporting project sites and assisting with H&S program implementation and improvements.

Must be open and flexible to travel at any type of cadence. Likely travel will be 6 weeks on project followed by 1 week off. But it is possible that other travel cadences may be required as needed by the field.

Nashville, TN;
Tulsa, OK;
Jacksonville, FL. Other locations considered on a case-by-case basis.

Pay: $28-35 per HR- DOE; OT available on a regular basis. All travel expenses covered and per diem is available.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work and learn under the guidance of Health & Safety professionals.
  • Gain experience in remediation, environmental construction, and waste management.
  • Provide safety related guidance to our proposal, field, and management teams.
  • Assist in the development of HASPs, JHAs, and other required safety documents.
  • Develop and manage safety related communications and updates.
  • Support project sites and assist with H&S Program implementation and improvements.
  • Assist with the onboarding and guidance of new employees.
  • Serve on the Safety Committee and help guide policy and procedure.
  • Assist with H&S related admin functions such as training and incident reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
  • Bachelor's degree or safety certificates are preferred;
  • 5+ years of direct field management/safety experience in lieu of degree;
  • Background of H&S in an industrial environment or dirt work is preferred;
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently;
  • Proficient with computers, web navigation, MS Suite, Adobe Acrobat preferred;
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable MVR required
    ;
  • Ability to follow company policy on facial hair and getting fit for a respirator as needed, which could include shaving;
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulations.
Competencies
  • Ability to work in a team environment and follow the direction of senior management.
  • Health and Safety degree or Safety‑related certification.
  • Have or be able to obtain trainer status for First Aid/CPR, OSHA 30, and similar.
  • Proficient with computers, web navigation, MS Suite, Adobe Acrobat.
Physical Requirements
  • This position is physically demanding, and candidates must be able to navigate varying site conditions where steep slopes and rugged terrain may be present and walk several miles per day. Some strenuous manual labor, including shoveling, pushing large fabric rolls, installing construction and silt fencing, and lifting and moving pumps and other small equipment is required. Candidates must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted and wear personal protective equipment that may restrict movement when required.
  • Requires walking and standing for extended periods of time, sitting in equipment that may vibrate or jostle, climbing and working at heights, pulling/pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, crawling, stooping, crouching, and balance. Requires speaking, listening, understanding, and writing English; color determination, depth perception, clarity of vision, and 20/20 eyesight (corrected or uncorrected).
