Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Regulatory Compliance
  • Monitor and interpret federal, state, and regional electricity market regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with requirements from organizations such as:
    Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) and Independent System Operators (ISOs) such as ERCOT, CAISO, MISO, PJM, and SPP Public Utility Commissions (PUCs).
  • Track regulatory changes and communicate potential business impacts.
Compliance Monitoring & Reporting
  • Conduct routine compliance reviews and audits of power market activities.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory filings, certifications, and compliance reports.
  • Maintain documentation supporting compliance obligations and audits.
Risk Assessment & Controls
  • Identify potential compliance risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain compliance controls, procedures, and monitoring processes.
  • Support investigations of compliance issues and root-causes analyses.
  • Track remediation plans and corrective actions.
  • Support compliance with market behavior rules and tariff requirements.
Audit Support
  • Coordinate responses to internal and external audits.
  • Gather evidence and maintain audit-ready documentation.
  • Assist with NERC compliance audits and regulatory examinations.
Training & Communication
  • Promote a culture of compliance and ethical business conduct.
  • Serve as a compliance resource for cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Economics, Energy Management, Accounting, or related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in power markets and regulatory compliance, or utility operations.
  • Knowledge of wholesale electricity markets and market rules.
  • Understanding of FERC regulations, NERC standards, and ISO/RTO market structures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with coordination of critical cross functional projects and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in ERCOT, CAISO, or SPP markets.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy compliance programs.
