Role Overview
The Rate Analyst supports the company’s regulatory, commercial, and financial objectives by conducting cost‑of‑service studies, designing rates, and preparing filings for interstate natural gas pipeline services under FERC jurisdiction.
Responsibilities and Expectations- Coordinate development of rate case positions on significant issues.
- Analyze FERC orders related to filings and communicate company impact.
- Prepare and file tariff changes to meet business needs.
- Respond to FERC and customer data requests.
- Collaborate with partners to gather and review data for FERC certificate filings and reports.
- Provide expert testimony before federal or state regulatory bodies.
- Support commercial and business development teams to evaluate new opportunities/services.
- Develop, review, and provide input into legal pleadings.
- Consult as a specialist on FERC regulatory matters.
- Perform detailed cost‑of‑service studies, financial modeling, and scenario analysis.
- Create, evaluate, and recommend rate structures and tariff provisions.
- Submit rate case filings, tariff changes, and compliance reports to FERC.
- Work with legal, engineering, commercial, accounting, scheduling, and gas control teams to gather data and develop regulatory strategies.
- Monitor and analyze transportation and storage agreements to maximize value and support planning.
- Mentor others.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related field.
- Required: Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in interstate pipeline work.
- Preferred: MBA.
- Required: Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PC skills.
- Preferred: Direct experience in interstate regulatory area.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and prioritizes safety.
- Familiarity with pipeline capacity management, contract analysis, and tariff development.
