About the RoleNRG is seeking a Manager to join its Growth & Partnerships organization. This role is ideal for an intellectually curious and analytically rigorous energy industry professional who enjoys solving complex problems at the intersection of power markets, customer solutions, regulation, and corporate growth.
The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong business judgment. They will be comfortable reviewing utility tariffs, interpreting RTO/ISO market rules, auditing complex financial models, developing data-driven insights, and partnering across commercial, regulatory, finance, operations, and development teams to advance strategic initiatives.
This position will support high-priority growth opportunities across NRG’s portfolio, including data centers, distributed energy resources, virtual power plants, load management solutions, generation development, and utility partnerships.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of energy market opportunities, regulatory developments, customer segments, and emerging business models.
- Review, interpret, and synthesize utility tariffs, regulatory orders, RTO/ISO market rules, interconnection requirements, and procurement mechanisms.
- Build, audit, and enhance complex financial, operational, and economic models to evaluate business opportunities and investment decisions.
- Translate complex technical information into clear business implications, risks, decision points, and recommended actions.
- Collaborate with partner teams across the enterprise to evaluate and advance growth opportunities.
- Identify key assumptions, risks, constraints, and value drivers across potential partnerships, investments, and new business ventures.
- Conduct market intelligence, competitive assessments, and benchmarking to inform strategic decision-making.
- Develop executive-ready presentations, business cases, and decision-support materials for senior leadership.
- Serve as a trusted thought partner to internal stakeholders and help bridge organizational boundaries to advance enterprise priorities.
- Deeply knowledgeable about the North American energy industry, wholesale power markets, utility business models, and customer energy solutions.
- Comfortable navigating complex and ambiguous problems where there may be limited precedent or incomplete information.
- Strong analytical thinkers who can independently develop insights, test assumptions, and identify the business implications of technical details.
- Exceptional spreadsheet users who can quickly identify errors, challenge assumptions, improve analytical rigor, and audit complex models.
