The Chief Operating Office brings together professionals focused on operational excellence, business management, governance, execution discipline, AI and innovation, and enterprise enablement. The practice helps ensure that teams across BNY are equipped to deliver consistent, efficient, and well-governed outcomes while supporting the broader goals of the Platform Operating Model. It serves as a professional home for colleagues whose work strengthens how the organization operates, executes priorities, manages risk, adopts innovative solutions, and drives continuous improvement.

By connecting practitioners across teams, the Practice promotes consistency, capability building, and the sharing of best practices.

As an intern to the Office of the COO, you will gain exposure to how a global financial services organization operates s role is designed for students who are curious about business management, operational strategy, governance, technology, and the execution disciple required to move enterprise priories forward.

• Support day-to-day activities and strategic initiatives within the Chief Operating Office (COO)
• Conduct research and analysis on operational processes, performance metrics, and business priorities
• Help track action items, risks, milestones, and deliverables across ongoing projects
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency
• Assist with documentation of business procedures, workflows, and governance materials
• Support AI initiatives by researching use cases, documenting opportunities, and helping teams understand where adoption could improve processes or decision-making.

• Process improvement:
  Process improvement: understanding workflows, evaluating pain points, and identifying AI-driven or automation-enabled solutions that can improve efficiency.
• Governance and controls awareness: learning how organizations manage oversight, accountability, and risk
• Project and program coordination: tracking actions, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables
• Reporting and metrics: helping compile dashboards, updates, and performance insights
• Execution discipline: supporting the follow-through needed to move initiatives from planning to completion

• Improve team efficiency by helping organize processes, track deliverables, and identify opportunities to leverage automation
• Support decision-making by gathering information, preparing updates, and helping turn data into clear insights
• Strengthen coordination across stakeholders by helping manage communications, action items, and project touchpoints
