Position Overview: The Estimator will serve as the lead point of responsibility during the pre-construction phase, ensuring that all estimating activities align with project goals and company standards. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects.
- Analyze architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate quantity take-offs.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather pricing and scope details.
- Evaluate subcontractor bids and vendor quotes for completeness and competitiveness.
- Develop and maintain historical cost databases to support future estimates.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities in materials, methods, and construction techniques.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and client requirements.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in multi-sector projects (residential, commercial, industrial).
- Strong understanding of construction documents and building systems.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with construction defect restoration or forensic estimating.
- Familiarity with building envelope systems and high-performance construction practices.
- Knowledge of local Houston market pricing and subcontractor networks.
Keys / Requirements:
- estimators that have 3+ years experience with envelope and restoration work, either from general contractors or subcontractors.
- Construction estimating software experience (Bluebeam, Autodesk takeoff, Microsoft project and suite, ProEST)
- Construction defect restoration or waterproofing services (major plus)
