Our client is a heavy civil construction company specializing in underground utilities, mass excavation, and complex infrastructure projects. Our work includes both private development and public/municipal projects.
We are builders — not a design firm — and we are looking for a construction-minded Project Manager who understands what it takes to execute work in the field.
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with hands-on civil construction experience
, specifically in underground utility installation and large-scale earthwork/mass excavation. This role requires someone who has managed projects from the field level — coordinating crews, subcontractors, equipment, and schedules — and understands how to drive production safely and profitably.

- Oversee underground utility installation (water, sewer, storm, force main, etc.)
- Manage mass excavation and grading operations
- Develop and maintain project schedules (Primavera or MS Project preferred)
- Monitor project budgets, cost controls, and production tracking
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and municipal representatives
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Handle RFIs, change orders, submittals, and pay applications
- Lead project meetings and maintain strong client relationships
- Enforce safety standards and company policies on all jobsites
- 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction project management
- Direct experience in underground utilities and mass excavation required
- Proven experience managing public/municipal infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of civil plans, specifications, and bid documents
- Field experience supervising crews and coordinating equipment operations
- Experience working with municipalities, inspectors, and public agencies
- Strong budgeting and cost control skills
- Ability to lead teams and communicate effectively with field and office personnel
- OSHA 30 preferred
- A builder’s mindset — someone who understands production and field execution
- Strong leadership and accountability
- Solution‑oriented thinker who can adapt to jobsite challenges
- Organized, detail‑oriented, and proactive
- Comfortable in the field and on active construction sites
- Competitive salary (based on experience)
- Performance‑based bonuses
- Company vehicle or vehicle allowance
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid time off
