Results Statement
A Level II Inspector/Sr Field Technician will be knowledgeable in construction methods and workmanship that ensures contractors build roadways, bridges, utilities, and related highway structures in accordance with plans and specifications. They will be experienced in construction inspection and testing for roadway (earthwork, subgrade, base, concrete and asphalt pavement, drainage, lighting, guardrail and striping for rehabilitation/new) and/or bridge (drilled shafts, driven piles, reinforcing steel, structural concrete, and bridge decks) elements and transportation projects, and will have basic familiarity with materials, methods, and processes used in the construction of transportation projects.
The Construction Inspector will receive supervision and support from one or more senior field personnel and will be required to perform supervision and, if required, oversee material testing activities.
- Observes and inspects ongoing construction work
- Reviews plans and specifications to ensure that work is in compliance with same
- Reports work progress and discusses construction related problems with project manager as needed
- Assists with training for less experienced personnel as required
- Prepares Daily Work Reports in Site Manager
- Possesses working knowledge of construction, including materials, methods, plans, procedures and specifications, associated safety requirements, and knowledge of construction materials testing procedures
- Performs field and lab testing and/or inspections as assigned in a cheerful workmanlike manner
- Provides support to the Project Manager and/or Laboratory Manager as needed
- Maintains/obtains certifications as required
- Can perform quantity and engineering computations, read and interpret plans and specifications, document deficiencies and deviations from plans and clearly communicate this information to supervisors as they arise
- Documents work performed as appropriate on media and forms provided in a timely manner
- Manages time and works independently
- Works in various temperature and climate conditions

- Keeps truck maintained and clean at all times
- You will assign Construction Materials Testing and/or Inspector Level II job based on the company requirements
- Minimum 5-10 years' experience as a senior construction materials technician
- Must have ACI, SB102, Level 1A or Level 1B Asphalt Certifications
- Any additional TxDot Certifications are a plus
- Possess High School Diploma
- Ability to lift concrete, soil, or asphalt samples as a routine part of the job
- Ability to tolerate year‑round outdoor work
- Must be able to pass a criminal history background check
- May require statewide travel with paid expenses
- Valid Texas Driver’s License with no history of accidents or alcohol/drug‑related traffic offenses
