Project Manager – Marine Construction Houston, Texas | Onsite POSITION SUMMARY

Orion is seeking an experienced Project Manager to provide leadership and project management support for marine construction operations in Houston, Texas. This position is accountable for developing bid packages, calculating project costs, selecting suppliers, procuring materials and services, interpreting project plans, scheduling project work activities, providing project oversight, interfacing with project personnel, and helping ensure successful project completion and close out.

The incumbent must support the guiding beliefs and core values of Orion which are centered on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork — all built upon the foundation of Integrity.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with the Project Management Team to ensure the successful completion and profitability of ongoing and new projects
  • Provide project management guidance and oversight to Superintendents and Foremen on marine construction projects
  • Develop bid proposals and ensure timely submission of completed proposals
  • Negotiate contracts and change orders as required
  • Estimate project costs including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted services
  • Procure materials and services necessary to support project execution
  • Interpret project plans and specifications for customers, suppliers, and project teams
  • Develop and maintain project schedules to support timely completion
  • Interface with project personnel, suppliers, customers, and subcontractors throughout project execution
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with company safety practices
  • Participate in Safety and Environmental initiatives supporting regulatory compliance and continuous improvement
  • Travel to work locations and project sites as needed

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline required
  • Minimum of 8 years of Project Management experience in construction
  • Marine construction or heavy industrial experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of estimating, scheduling, procurement, cost control, and project management processes
  • Familiarity with project tracking software, engineering standards, and safety/environmental compliance
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to interface effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to quickly learn technical aspects of the business and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to wear required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, and steel‑toed boots
  • Ability to work outdoors and adapt to changing weather and environmental conditions
  • Ability to access barges, boats, vessels, docks, and active construction sites
  • Ability to stand, climb, kneel, stoop, squat, and sit for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 lbs. as required
