Position: Laborer, General (Evergreen)

Overview

As the Laborer, you will work onsite in Houston, TX and surrounding areas and perform tasks to support daily operations at a construction site.

Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and preparing the job site, loading, and delivering materials, setting up and take-down of ladders, scaffolding, and other temporary shoring.
  • Performing a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in construction projects.
  • Following project plans and instructions from the Foreman and Superintendent.
  • Assisting the project Foreman and Superintendent on daily tasks and assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties.
  • Performing material handling and storage, including load, unload, haul, and hoist materials.
  • Operating air, electric, and pneumatic hand tools.
  • Maintaining a clean job site: picking up all tools and equipment, removing all construction debris and trash, sweeping the area clean, and securing the job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment used on the job.
  • Complying with all safety requirements and participating in safety meetings.
  • Reviewing daily task assignments and clarifying any material needs with the supervisor.
  • Working in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Performing other duties as directed.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • All‑around knowledge of materials, terms, and practices in the construction field.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Construction Industry Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to work proficiently with hand and power tools and safely utilize tools and equipment in the performance of duties.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
  • Ability to participate in group meetings, take direction from supervisors and crew members, maintain high attention to detail, follow work rules, and adhere to project schedule.
  • Ability to actively listen and follow instructions, work productively under pressure, and pay attention to details of a project or task.
  • Strong self‑motivation and work ethic; able to work with or without direct supervision.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly, adapt to change in the workplace, and identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and operate man‑lift and material handling equipment (fork‑lift and/or skid steer).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, sometimes including weekends and holidays.
Minimum Qualifications
  • No formal education or degree required; relevant or equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Ability to pass drug, driving (if applicable), and background screenings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year experience as a Construction Laborer preferred.
  • OSHA‑30 or OSHA‑10 Construction Industry Safety Certification preferred.
  • Previous experience with underground utilities preferred.
  • Valid state driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the Company’s Driving Policy preferred.
Working Environment

Most of the work in this position will be spent in the field with noise levels and working conditions typical of construction jobs. The environment may require multi‑tasking, adaptability to schedule and design changes, occasional overtime, and working weekends and holidays as needed.
