We are assisting a Houston based mid size commercial general contractor with the hiring of a Commercial Estimator. This firm is a multidisciplinary construction company that is focused on building quality long-term relationships while building quality long-term projects.

Job Description: The Commercial Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure project budgets are aligned with expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate estimating
  • Develop and maintain cost databases and historical data for reference in future estimates
  • Prepare quantity take-offs and apply unit pricing for material, labor, and equipment
  • Evaluate subcontractor bids and ensure accurate cost projections
  • Assist in the development of value engineering proposals to provide cost-effective solutions
  • Prepare bid proposals and participate in pre-bid and bid review meetings
  • Maintain clear and organized documentation throughout the estimating process
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience as a construction estimator, preferably in commercial projects
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes
  • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Pro Est, or similar)
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
