Role Description The Vice President of Business Development and Estimating is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX. This position leads the identification and pursuit of new commercial construction opportunities, builds and maintains client relationships, and drives revenue growth in core markets such as ground-up construction, remodels, and build-outs. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and executing business development strategies, qualifying leads, preparing and presenting proposals, and overseeing the estimating process from initial inquiry through final bid submission.

The role collaborates closely with project managers, preconstruction, and executive leadership to align pricing, scope, and schedule with client expectations and company profitability goals. The Vice President also mentors team members, refines estimating tools and processes, tracks market trends, and represents the company at industry events and networking functions.
Qualifications

  • Demonstrated strength in New Business Development and Sales, with a track record of winning commercial construction projects and expanding client portfolios.
  • Experience in Business Planning and strategic growth initiatives, including market analysis, pipeline management, and revenue forecasting.
  • Proficiency in Contract Negotiation and Account Management, ensuring clear scope definition, risk management, and long-term client satisfaction.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial construction, including ground-up projects, remodels, build-outs, and steel building systems.
  • Experience leading estimating efforts, including quantity takeoffs, subcontractor pricing, bid leveling, and proposal development.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with clients, design partners, and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency with estimating and project management software, as well as standard office productivity tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the Houston commercial construction market and familiarity with local codes, vendors, and subcontractor networks is highly beneficial.
