Construction Manager CLAS SUMMARY
Manages and oversees the construction of capital improvement projects to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. Consistently communicates accurate information to residents and other stakeholders to inform upcoming project tasks that may be impactful. Projects may include the installation of water and sanitary mains, drainage systems, sidewalks and roadway construction. Position is funded from capital improvement proceeds and may not be extended beyond the funding allocated for capital improvements.
TYPICALCLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES

High School Diploma or GED and five (5) years of experience in public sector construction and capital improvement projects; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTSValid Texas driver's license. Preference will be given to candidates that have earned the designation Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector (CPII) or similar through the American Public Works Association.
KNOWLEDGE- Civil construction
- Coordinate, schedule and lead construction meetings
- Material testing firms as needed
- Construction plans, specifications, submittals, etc.
- Survey benchmarks, elevations, and construction staking
- Basic math skills including ability to scale and measure distance and compute quantities and costs
- Records management
- City safety policies
- Manage/lead multiple construction projects
- Perform daily inspections of all workmanship
- Using computers and related software applications to generate daily and periodic reports of work progress
- Identification and resolution of conflicts with existing specifications and plans;
- Communication skills, both oral and written
- Providing customer service
- Conducting field inspections
- Mediating hostile situations
- Performing mathematical calculations
- Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, rules, and regulations
- Verify and approve monthly invoices for payment
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be exposed to hazardous physical conditions, such as, mechanical parts, electrical currents, and vibrations; atmospheric conditions, such as fumes, odors, gases, and poor ventilation; hazardous materials, such as chemicals, blood, and other bodily fluids; extreme temperatures; inadequate lighting; work space-related movement restrictions; intense noise; and other environmental conditions, such as, challenging behaviors, imminent danger, and threatening environments.
In order to be hired, applicants will need to pass a background check, a drug screen, physical exam, and a reference check.
